You will have to transfer your utilities, get packing supplies, hire a professional mover and at the same time take care of your kids and go to work every day as usual. Sounds complicated, right? However, in order to make your move easier, we will give you some tips on how to move a flat-screen TV?! So, let’s get started.

Move a flat screen TV successfully

Most of the things that we have in our home are very easy to pack and move. You will move couches and chairs as they are, pack clothes into moving boxes, use bubble wrap for glassware, towels for mirrors, etc. However, packing and relocating fragile and sensitive items takes a little more time and care. If you don’t think you can do it yourself, ask some of your friends to assist you. Hiring a professional moving company would also be a great idea! Now, we will explain, step by step, how to move a flat screen TV!

  • Take pictures
  • Dismount the TV from the wall
  • Pack it up!
  • Transport your Flat screen TV
  • Reassemble your TV

Take pictures

Before you do anything else, take a few pictures of your tv. First of all, take a picture of the TV while it is still mounted on the wall. After that, take a picture of cables and how they are connected to the tv. Pictures will help you to mount up the tv on the wall and to reconnect cables again without a problem. Therefore, do not forget to take pictures! You can also label cables with color-coded tape!

Dismount the TV from the wall

Almost every flat screen TV is mounted on the wall with a unique mount and just a few screws. You should ask your friends or neighbors to assist you with this step because it can be difficult to hold the tv and remove the screws at the same time. Use drill or screwdriver to remove screws from the wall and then slowly place the tv on the ground. Put the screws in a separate bag and label it.

Flat screen TV mounts are different. Some slide on, others screw on the tv. If it slides on, push it and remove it from the tv. Otherwise, remove the screws and place them into a sealable bag. Don’t forget to label this bag too!

Get bags with screws and tape them to the back of the tv. This will prevent losing your screws during the local or long distance relocation. However, it would be best to pack your flat screen TV in its original box. If you don’t have the original box, you should buy a heavy-duty box specially designed for the flat screen TV. Before you place the tv into a box, you should wrap it with a soft blanket, padding or bubble wrap. You can also add packing peanuts in the box for more protection. The TV should always be in an upright position!

Transport your flat screen TV

Ask someone to help you move flat screen tv! You shouldn’t carry the tv alone. You and your friend should pick up the tv while it’s in an upright position and carry it to the moving truck or any other vehicle you will use for the transport. If you are making a short distance move, the backseat of your car would be the perfect place for your flat screen tv. However, if you are using a moving truck, make sure to place the tv between sturdy and flat pieces of furniture such as closets or bookcases. It would be perfect if you can place your tv in between two mattresses. Make sure to secure the tv, especially for interstate relocations so it won’t shift and move during the transport.

Reassemble your TV

When you arrive in your new home, take the tv out of the box and place it on the ground next to the wall where you want to mount it up again. Ask some of your friends to assist you with assembling your flat screen tv. Remove the bags with screws that you taped to the back side of the tv. Attach the tv to the mount and then with your friends help, mount it back on the wall. If you don’t remember how to connect the cables again, use the pictures that you took before you disassembled your tv.

If you properly protect and pack your flat screen tv, you won’t have a problem to set it up again after you relocate to your new home. Assembling your tv fast will help you relax after a long moving day!
